If you’re from England and have never walked past or seen a RUSH hair salon then you should probably think about getting your eyesight tested. They’ve just opened their 92nd UK Salon in Dalston and to celebrate they’ve been hosting a group-wide campaign in which they’ve been inviting bloggers to try out some of their venues across London! (*does a happy dance*). I was lucky enough to be among those invited, thank goodness as my hair was in dire need of some serious help!
In my opinion, RUSH hair are some of the best salons in the country, I’ve previously visited the one at home in Tunbridge Wells and the Southampton Branch where between them they managed to transform my hair from dark brunette to a dark brown without making my hair too dry in the process and so for that I salute them and am eternally grateful (although I am again toying with the idea of some blondish highlights to replace my ombre which has almost disappeared after a few cuts. DO I?)
RUSH have won numerous awards which include 15 British Hairdressing Awards, and the BHA Artistic Team of the Year, and you don’t have to be a genius to see why. If you take a look through their INSTAGRAM you can see all of the exciting transformations and the skill level that is involved in being a stylist for RUSH.
Back to my latest experience at RUSH.
I was booked in for an 10:45 appointment at the Shepherd’s Bush branch of RUSH with a consultant named Dee, who was so lovely and did a fantastic job! I arrived a little bit late because I am a horrendous human being but this was no problem at all and I was seated straight away and offered a drink, which I hastily downed after my jog (I joke, it was a brisk walk – I cannot run) to the salon had left me parched.
We chatted through what I wanted to be done with my hair and decided that I’d have a little chopped off the ends where it was super dry from the bleach to leave it looking more healthy and a whole lot neater. And with that Dee got to work!
She led me to the hair washing area where I took a seat and began to relax as she washed my hair. Is it just me or does having your hair washed by someone else feel like one of the best things in the world? Dee also offered to put a hair masque on my hair which has made it feel so much softer, I’d definitely recommend this if you’re feeling like your hair needs a little bit of a revival. Plus it smells AMAZZZZING.
Next, we headed back to the salon area and she began to cut away. Quite often when I ask for just a little trim I end up having my hair length dramatically halved and then I feel sad and so it was nice to finally find a hair stylist that listens to exactly what you want and not get too snip happy! We had some lovely chats about where to go out in London and holidays which got me in the mood for some sun. The chat didn’t feel like it was forced and Dee seemed like she was genuinely interested in having a nice conversation which is always nice. She also re-framed my face and added some shorter bits there which I feel really suits me and am super happy with the result.
Before drying my hair, Dee added some Keratase Nectar Thermique Heat Defence, which apparently will really help the ends of my hair where the bleach remains from getting too dry as well as protecting the hair from the effects of using heat on it. She then proceeded to dry my hair in a soft bouncy-like way (she was so quick at it, I keep trying to learn the art of a bouncy blow dry but I just don’t think it’s something I was destined to learn.)
Shortly after she started my hair had been transformed and I was so pleased with it! It felt so soft and looked so much shinier and healthier than when I had arrived so top marks all around! (sadly it was raining very hard and my umbrella was very broken so my photos I took at home don’t do it justice). Thank you so much to RUSH for having me and treating me!
