Simply Be at London Fashion Week
Friday saw the opening of London Fashion Week, where hundreds and thousands of fashionistas flock to the runways to catch a glimpse of the season’s trends before anyone else.

Thursday night was no different. Before the official opening of LFW, Simply Be enlisted the help of some gorgeous models to debut their new collection on their very own ‘Curve Catwalk’ – The UK’s most size inclusive runway. It was a fantastic evening and I think Simply Be managed to transmit a very important message to the public and to the fashion industry…

We arrived at the Vinyl factory, just off of Carnaby Street in Soho and were led to a room filled to the brim with fabulous, stylish women (and a few men). I was scanning the room for style ideas whilst watching everyone pose in front of the media wall (and had a glass or two of wine) before taking my turn.

Soon after this, there was a slight stampede when a lot of the lovely ladies made a dash for the door. A little confused by what was happening, I remained in the room for a little while with the rest of the people who were baffled as to where everyone was going. The room slowly began to empty so I also left to be directed to another room where the catwalk was waiting! People were already seated and so we took to our places ready for the show… It then dawned on us that the mad rush was to ensure a goodie bag. Heartbroken. I love a goodie bag.

The lights went off and the punchy music began as Hayley Hasslehoff ( Yes, David Hasslehoff’s daughter) opened the show. As she strut her stuff down the simplistic white catwalk, wearing a black Basque which was teamed perfectly with a beautiful patterned blue kimono co-ord. She definitely captured the attention of the entire audience. I was worried that there may have been a slight wardrobe malfunction, but it was ALL fine, the bustier managed to contain her large, erm, assets. Maybe I need to invest in one of these contraptions as mine are always falling out…

The models then took to the runway to debut the collection. Here are a few of my favourite looks and items:

I fell in love with this co-ord, and spicing it up with a sexy black Basque really takes the look to another level. I need this in my wardrobe. Now.
Another of my favourites were the black trousers with a red and white side stripe. I’ve been looking for something like this everywhere for a while and I think I’ve finally found the perfect pair.
The By Night Ruched Velour Dress stunned on the runway, it caught the light beautifully and is such a flattering shape, it really would be perfect for the Christmas work do! Tess Holliday (US Plus-size model) modelled this on the night and looked fab. She exuded glamour and confidence and at a size 26 she proved once again that beauty and fashion really have no limits.
This is the statement dress I need. I can completely imagine myself in this and feel that the lines of the embellishment would be really flattering. Although it does seem very short (but I can assure that I am far shorter than this model!)
I must admit, I’ve had Simply Be wrong for a number of years. I didn’t realise that their clothing started at size 10 and went all the way through to size 32. I thought they only catered for sizes 18 and above for some reason, but after seeing the range that they have to offer, I’m impressed and will be grabbing some of their clothing very soon. Fashionable, affordable and designed to make you feel as comfortable as possible in your own skin.
One part of Simply Be that I was particularly captivated by was the lingerie. I have a fuller bust than a lot of my friends and find it really REALLY difficult to find nice underwear in my size on the high street so I’ll definitely be stocking up.

I was so impressed by the entire show and the message that it gave to the audience. For the finale all of the models returned wearing t-shirts which displayed their clothing size. It was kind of a middle finger to the world and to say that women of all sizes should be accepted for who they are and that everyone should be able to rock the latest trends, no matter what their size.

Simply Be have got it bang on this season!
